The construction contract is scheduled to last 400 days. I’m not sure what the actual start date is, but by the look of the photos, you won’t be fishing on it anytime soon. :D

There will not be no good fishing there this year on the jettie? So i wasted my money for a beach permit, I thought the expense of the tags was to keep the beach clean, you should could fooled me, the matagorda beach is nausty. The kids with the four wheel drive tear up the beach, and they should have to pay a fine 500.00-1.000.00, maybe that would teach them a lesson.

It would be nice if they would rake the beach every now and then like some of the other beaches down south, just from the pier to the beach entrance would be great. As for the kids with the four wheeled drive trucks..I don’t believe there is much that can be done about them. Kids will be kids. As a local surfer I welcome the new jetty since the surf is usually better next to one. I don’t know if there will be any good surf next to this one because the original jetty blocks it, but if nothing else it will make plenty of room for the many Matagorda Beach fisherman. Does anyone know exactly how far out this jetty will go? Will it be like the one at Surfside Beach?
